Paul Hawken

We have all seen talking head docs until we are blue in the face. This is different. They have done something amazing here. It is poetic, riveting, coherent, and eloquent.

Our Story

In 2008, we attended our first Living Future conference in our hometown of Vancouver, Canada.
Billed as a hub for the deepest ecological thinkers in design, the event centered around The Living Building Challenge—the most ambitious and rigorous green building standard on the planet.
Ballrooms full of architects and engineers had a lot to say about social constructs, not just buildings. They weren’t simply talking about energy efficiency; they were dissecting the polycrisis of our time—climate change, deforestation, toxic pollution, class and raced based 'sacrifice zones', and the unfathomable harms of capitalism and patriarchy upon the earth, and each of us.

17 years later, this is the film we are honoured to share with world.

We dedicate this space both to all of the extraordinary speakers who illuminate the film, and to the Living Buildings we profiled that anchor us in hope.

With gratitude.
